My mother's father, who died in 1939, was in the 1/7th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, a Territorial Battalion raised at Stirling in 1914. He saw active service in Belgium and France and survived the Great War. He never spoke about it to my mother.
I have the Regimental souvenir booklet, and have visited many of the fields where my grandfather fought.
